Cozero Log: calculate your Carbon footprint

Navigate to the Carbon Footprint section of Cozero. This is where you calculate your organization or product's footprint. To create a calculation, you will "Log" data in Cozero.

To create a Log, choose a Cozero category, a Location, and a time period.

How to create a log - GIF and step-by-step guide:

  1. Click on the “Log” section on the left of the Cozero platform dashboard

  2. Select “Carbon Footprint” which is nested under “Log”

  3. Choose either the “Organization” or “Product” for which you want to create a new “Log”

  4. To create a new log click on “+ New Log” on the upper right in the Cozero platform dashboard

  5. Choose an emission category: an activity of the company (e.g. Travel, Hosting, Heating consumption, Power consumption) for which emissions can be calculated. Emission categories are always associated with a specific emission scope as defined by the GHG protocol.

  6. Follow the instructions on filling in information. This will include information on the Location for which you want to log data, and for which Time period. Note that you can only log emissions in a Location, not in a Business unit.

  7. You now have an empty log. Go to the next section to learn how to create a log entry.

Inside this log, you will create a Log entry: This is a datapoint. You will need: the calculation method, the Activity data source, and the data and its unit.

You can also indicate the quality of data, and add information such as tags, supplier, customer or product name, and spend.

Once you save the log entry, the emissions should calculate automatically.

How to create a log entry - GIF and step-by-step guide:

  5. Indicate the quality of the data you have entered. Learn more about data quality on our Wiki here.

  6. Select the correct region in which the activity happened. For categories where you have purchased an item, select the country in which your supplier is located.

Understanding data accuracy

Transparency is a key pillar of accounting and management. In order to calculate the most accurate carbon footprint possible, continuous quality management of the data collected within the defined scope of analysis is essential.

In addition to providing support in the collection of primary data, Cozero's software provides completeness and accuracy metrics to help identify and avoid sources of error.
