Keeping up with calculation changes
The way we calculate carbon emissions is always improving. At Cozero, we want to give you the best and most accurate ways to measure your emissions. That means we sometimes need to update our calculations, add new emission factors, or make things work better.

What's new: Calculation changes tracker
Our latest Calculation changes feature is here to help you understand these changes. You'll get an email every Monday morning when we make changes that affect your data. This email will inform your team’s admins and managers about the changes and provide a link to where you can learn more on the platform. To implement the changes, we'll recalculate your data six weeks after we make the update. This gives you enough time to ask questions or even delay the recalculation if needed. But don't worry, data fromClosed periods won't be affected as this data is considered locked.
Information provided on Calculation changes
Category: The Cozero category containing any logs affected by the calculation change.
Subcategory: The Cozero subcategory containing any logs affected by the calculation change.
Reason: The “why ”behind us making the calculation changes.
Year: The year(s) in which the calculation changes affect the logs.
Is the year field blank? This may be due to two reasons: Either a time period has not been selected on your product carbon footprint or only logs in a closed period are affected.
Organization emissions: Estimated new emissions value and change (%) of the affected CCF logs for the specific year(s). The relative % value shows how much your emissions increase or decrease.
Product emissions: Estimated new emissions value and change (%) of the affected product logs for the specific year(s). The relative % value shows how much your emissions increase or decrease.
Percent change values:
(---): A dashed line indicates no change in the respective organization or product emissions.
(+∞%): The infinite change symbol indicates a change where entries had no emissions before due to a calculation failure but have now been corrected and calculated.(<0.01%): This change with no + or - symbol indicates not change in emissions but a potential move from one scope, category or subcategory to another.
Implementation date → Recalculation date: We'll make the changes and recalculate impacted logs 6 weeks after implementation. You can contact us for questions during this period.
View details: Click for detailed information on the logs impacted by this change. This view is broken down into impacted organization logs, product logs and any closed periods these changes could impact.
Handling logs in Closed periods
Organization logs included in your Closed periods will never be recalculated. If you wish to disable any planned recalculations, you can simply create a Closed period to lock the affected logs and avoid recalculation. This can be done at the business unit level and time frame of choice (eg. days, months, quarters or years). Please note that Closed periods must be in 'Closed' mode to to lock your data. Logs which fall into 'Draft' closed periods are not considered locked and will be recalculated.
If you wish to understand more details about the impact of changes on your Closed periods, please reach out to us at support@cozero.io or by using the green chat bubble.
